There are signs in life we know we should listen to and signs we should absolutely ignore. But then there are signs in life we just can’t comprehend or understand what they’re for.
I’ll give some examples…My ex-husband and I broke up after 2 years of dating in 2013. The reason was because he said he didn’t want to be married or have kids. It was around 4 months later he would be begging for me to come back because he “changed his mind.” That sign I should have listened to but of course blew off. Another example would be from August 5, 2019, the day I found out I was pregnant with my son. The day before would have been the second time I told my ex-husband I wanted a divorce. Prior to this I had two miscarriages and had a really hard time getting and staying pregnant. So why now? I knew in my heart my relationship was crumbling and I just couldn’t understand God’s timing or what he was doing. But again I had to trust it and know that there was a reason for it. Fast forward to 2023. Newly divorced with two kids. I have no plan in mind or what I’m going to do for a living, for money, or just the way to live. I was a mess. But again I knew there was a plan and a purpose for all that I had gone through but just couldn’t see it. On May 19, 2023, my kids were at their dad’s house and I went for a walk behind my housing development. Its a pretty industrial area if you’re familiar with where I live. I go running down these backways weekly and am fairly confident I know with most of the businesses around me. However, this one day, I was crying out to God for a sign. I felt lost and didn’t understand why things weren’t going the way I had envisioned after I got divorced. With my head down, I’m praying but look up and see this store. Looked more like a coffee shop from the outside but I had never seen it before. I open the door and walk in and what I see is mind blowing! From top to bottom, left to right, door to door. There are scriptures everywhere. With what felt like tears of despair pouring down my face they turn quickly into tears of joy. I saw all that I needed to that day when I asked God for a sign. And from this I knew everything was going to be okay. He was working all things out for my good and my kids’ good. I knew this wasn’t just a random coincidence walking into this place. A true sign from God with no other explanation.
He created the universe and set stars in the sky to give us signs. Genesis 1:14
But sometimes these coincidences aren’t actually coincidences at all. They are signs to give us hope.
